APPLICATIONS AND MARKETS
Shepherd Color’s inorganic pigments can be used in vinyl siding, window and door profiles to reduce, if not eliminate, the warping and twisting that comes with the temperature sensitivity of PVC products. Our pigments can even be used in composite decking materials, helping to reflect IR rays and making the deck more comfortable to bare feet.
Our pigments can also be used in automotive plastics and engineering resins due to their high heat stability.
Products that use Arctic pigments stay cooler, which means they are less prone to sun damage and enable more comfortable and sustainable environments.

applications in 2021
Timely and accurate responses to increasingly complex regulatory questions
NTP Yellow and RTZ Orange expand the durable color envelope with color-fastness, opacity, and bright colors
Global warehousing allows for timelier shipments and local supply
Many of our pigments are FDA compliant for food contact and can be used in plastics, such as lids and plastic ware.
This includes our newest IR black pigment, specifically used for improving recyclability of black plastic containers. Instead of using carbon black pigments that absorb IR wavelengths, our black pigments reflect these wavelengths, which allow black plastic to be sorted correctly at recycling centers, increasing sustainability.
