Shepherd Color pigments are among the most stable and chemically resistant pigments known to man. The oldest and most reliable way of measuring the durability of pigments is by direct exposure of test panels to natural sunlight. Panels based on pigments manufactured by the Shepherd Color Company have over 30 years of natural exposure in a Florida weathering test site and exhibit remarkable color retention. We also test our pigments at commercial test sites in Arizona and at our own facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio. For quicker results, we can perform accelerated testing which can be useful for comparing different pigments in identical coatings or plastic systems. Each application is different and may require different tests. Because of their excellent chemical resistance and good weathering characteristics, Shepherd Color pigments have been used in commercial coating systems that are warranted for 20 years or more.
